9 Months in Style

Congratulations, you're having a baby. Well, in a manner of speaking. So, now, treat the mother to be of your child, and help her pass the nine months looking even more stunning than normal.

First things first

Best to let your beloved go and get a fitting for her maternity bra first (we still think John Lewis are the best at this) but once she knows the size, then treat her to something special.

For the nine months, we think this is a stunning bra, ticks all the right boxes to keep the midwife happy (there are do's and don'ts for what lingerie you should wear when pregnant) as well as looking particularly sexy and sensual.

You have to get used to the fact that after baby arrives lingerie is going to have some extra clasps for a while, but there is no excuse these days for it not looking gorgeous too, like this Rosalie bra from Freya.

Can't worry about the top without worrying about the bottoms too. These Emily pants are pretty and comfortable, without looking too much like big pants.

How about a half now, half later gift? Most women can wear a mini string whilst they are pregnant, as it goes under the bump, and this one from Lejaby is gorgeous. And when her shape returns to normal, treat her to the matching bra.

Looking Swell

If you want to treat her to something stunning, then Isabella Oliver is a great first port of call. If you are going out somewhere special then this is a little black dress that will look great all through her pregnancy.

We're impressed by how stylish Mothercare has got, like this purple wrap dress which she can dress up or down depending on the occasion, or just how she feels.

We love FunMum, who we think have one of the best collections of maternity online at the moment. From workwear to playwear, you're spoilt for choice. This zebra stripe dress ticks all of this summers fashion boxes, add the trousers too for full marks.

Some women eschew maternity wear, just buying normal things but bigger. We certainly lived through our various productions in a variety of Boden wrap dresses. They're still gorgeous, but we think this wrap from White Stuff gives them a run for their money though. Just buy in a bigger size than she normally takes.

Chilled out mama

If she's into yoga for a bit of relaxation, or just relaxing, then we love this yoga pull on top and trousers from Bonsoir. Its also ideal for after the birth, and slightly smarter for receiving surprise guests in than your old t-shirts.

Whether she's doing active, or just chilling, then we love this wrap top from Sweaty Betty. Again, this is not a maternity outfit but in a bigger size will happily accommodate a bump.

Slogan tees are big news, and so here's an appropriate one. This long sleeved tee bears the news "Baby Under Construction". Not quite Frankie Says we know, but we think it's cute.

For swimming, or sunbathing, then this tankini leaves plenty of room for growth, as well as good support, and good looks for on the beach or in the pool.

Under wraps

Layers are useful when pregnant, as your temperature control gets a bit wonky, so something like this gorgeous cashmere ballet wrap feels both indulgent and practical, and will be something that she can wear afterwards too.

We feel the same about this wrap too. Useful to hide baby, and your modesty, under if breastfeeding in public if you want to, and just a great extra layer for when things get a bit nippy.

If you're grabbing a last chance flake out in the sun, then treat her to a gorgeous kaftan as a cover up against the sun. Stylish and cool, in all senses of the word, and not a bit reminiscent of Denis Roussos.

For something for looking good at work, then this ruched top, again from FunMum, is just the thing. Looks good, looks professional, and doesn't look mumsy. Perfect.

Night night

Says it all really. Resting now is really important so help her maximise her beauty sleep with this fun sleep mask. And do not disturb unless bearing cups of tea.

It's good to have a gorgeous cover up for night-time, and we think this silk dressing gown has it all. Sensual, silky and cut generously enough to get round a bump.

For something a bit more casual, we love these PJs from Cyberjammies. Never have elasticated waists and loose fitting shirts looked so good, or been such a welcome addition to a wardrobe.

Now, if you're going to be up in the middle of the night, which we'd take a bet you are, and its going to be cold and dark, then you may as well have something gorgeous and warm to run round in. And yes, baby puke will come out of cashmere.
