Leading Men Other Worlds to This Just for Laughs Watching & Learning
WATCH AND LEARN
Sometimes, all you want to do is curl up and watch. We had in mind something on the TV, and this is the section for the couch potato, but hopefully gives some options to get you up and moving, or out and about. Or just completely chilled out.
Again, like books and CDs, DVDs are a great way to show you understand your other half’s interests and desires. Try not to buy him I Can’t Believe I’m Knitting unless you are absolutely, 100% sure that this is what he’d like. And even then…we’d be a bit careful.
For leading men, not drama queens
The Departed is no average gangster movie, it's a Martin Scorsese gangster film. Stunning cast, brutal twists, and a truly shocking finale. If it's his sort of thing, then this is top of the game.
Dirty Harry, iconic script, defining role for Clint Eastwood, this is a superb collection of the five films. He may be some time watching them all, but go ahead, make his day.
From one icon to another, Bogart in The Maltese Falcon, the classic film noir. This is a special edition with plenty of interesting extras. You even get Bogie looking less than cool in some of the bloopers.
Have the endless debate on who the best Bond was or is. You could just get in the latest one, or treat him to everything except that one with this amazing Bond collection of all the other films. And then maybe watch Daniel in his trunks on your own.

From Other Worlds to This
We can't say it might make any more sense, but The Matrix Trilogy box set should give him enough material to come up with a lot of different theories for nights down the pub with his mates.
If he's into classic sci-fi, then see how he feels about this remake of The Attack of the 50ft Woman. Now on DVD, its pure class in the style of classic B movies.
We love Torchwood. Its fantastical, sometimes scary, often funny and can be downright rude. And we love it. Did we mention that? Part 3 of series 1 has just been released, we'd find it hard not to order the other two parts at the same time.
Sometimes the most fantastical sights don't come from some director's brain, they are already out there on our own planet. Buy Planet Earth, the BBC's amazing series and marvel at what is really out there.

Just for Laughs
For a certain age group, then The Goodies were comedy at the cutting edge of things. Let him relive those times enjoying crazy moments from their time at ITV for the first time on DVD. We're looking forward to seeing the Snow White all over again.
If he likes his laughs a bit clever than the average, then try out Idiocracy on him. It's a sharp, must-see satire on American culture, where sci-fi comedy meets Dumb and Dumber! Watching this, the future looks scary but don't give up hope!
Well, it's definitely not clever, but it is laugh out loud funny! Here are all three episodes of the Austin Powers movies, every cheesy and sleazy moment for him to enjoy at his leisure. Not to mention he'll probably quite enjoy the three very different leading ladies!
If he'd like something a bit retro and a bit kooky, then give him this boxed set of the original Addams Family. There are 22 episodes to enjoy, from The Addams Family go to School through to Halloween with the Addams Family, all very unique for their time and still funny now.

Watching & Learning

Show him that getting older can make things more interesting, with this 3 DVD set of great digs from the Time Team gang. The films cover the whole of British history from the Bronze Age to modern times, so that probably means they've pieced together a Starbucks cup!
Learning to Steam unfortunately has nothing to do with him creating wonderful steamed dinners for you, but more about him fulfilling a childhood dream of driving a steam train. If you can't get him somewhere to do the real thing then this might keep him happy for a bit.
So perhaps you can persuade him onto a bit of cooking, when its fronted by two Northern lads on motorbikes. The Hairy Bikers combine great cooking, amazing places around the world, a lot of laughs and quite a few different types of motorbike. And normally Si or Dave having one over the eight and falling off something.
If he's more of an outdoor type, then how about Diarmuid Gavin's Irish Garden? Great plants, great ideas, quite a lot of rain as you'd expect, and Diarmuid's usual twists on traditional gardening.
