GREAT GADGETS AND BOY'S TOYS

We have yet to meet a man who wasn't partial to a gadget or two. Or three. Or four. And they don't have to be of the sensible variety. So here's our round up of what's great right now. Lets go gadgets shopping!

High Tech Wizardry for Gizmo Guys

Gift ideas gadgets - Nokia 8600 Luna

Remember when mobile phones were just phones? Well, this one is so far evolved from that starting point that it's like a different species. The Nokia 8600 Luna is very, very cool and stylish: transparent casing, buttons that light up when someone calls, 250GB for storing tunes, and a two-megapixel camera. That's what we call multi-tasking!

Gift ideas gadgets - iRiver

Men might struggle with  more than one thing at once, but the same can rarely be said about the gadgets they lust after. The iRiver has the lust factor, and the multi-tasking ability, as it's a fantastic video and music player, plus an FM radio, picture viewer and even a voice recorder. Fantastic, although its yet to learn how to do the ironing. Three memory sizes to choose from, with the iRiver U10 being £99 currently

Gift ideas gadgets - iLuv video dock

Loving our iPod videos, but that screen is a little dinky. Treat your man to the iLuv i1055, for a 7 inch screen so you can watch almost anywhere. And it charges your iPod up at the same time, with the included mains adaptor, or add in an in-car charger for video to go. In fact I think it's safe to say that we luv iLuv!

Gift ideas gadgets - K100D

If he fancies himself as the next David Bailey, then treat him to the Pentax K200D. It's a lot of camera for the money, with six-megs, 2.5 inch display and Shake Reduction.  Always handy. As always, its got great lenses, and don't forget to get him a decent case to keep it safe in!

For TV lovers and the couch potato

Gadgets shopping - Slingbox set top set

Make a telly addict's dream come true. With Slingbox, he can watch all his favourite programmes from the UK, from Family Fortunes to Eastenders, anywhere in the world. It just gets plugged into the receiver at home, and then he can pick up programmes over his laptop through the wonders of the web.

Gadgets shopping - Gun Remote Control

This may end fights over the remote control! Or let him vent his fury at Jeremy Clarkson or Eastenders. This remote can be set to change channels or the volume. It even emits a fairly meaty gunshot sound with each slug.

Gadgets shopping - Beer Chill Dispenser

Loves beer? Loves gadgets? Problem sorted. Draught beer, on tap, at home with this Beer Chill Dispenser. You can order it with or without a keg for immediate testing. Probably best to buy some glasses too. Otherwise, you just know, he's going to give it a go. Lying down underneath it, mouth open, tap on. Nice.

Gift ideas gadgets - Overboard Dry Tube

A gadget without batteries? Well, its pushing the definition but if you've got your own surf dude or just a beach bum, then help him keep his gear dry with this Overboard Dry Tube. Rather than risk leaving things in an old Tesco bag, try this water-tight sack, guaranteed to keep the contents dry. It even floats if you drop it overboard from your private yacht. Or pedalo.

Gift ideas gadgets - Minicat Catamaran

Got a wannabe sailor on your hands, but can't afford the mooring fees? Well, now a yacht is not just one of the rich boys toys as this is a boat in a bag, as unbelievable as it might sound. The MiniCat is a unique, two-person catamaran that you just pop out of the bag when you feel like messing around on the water. And then just stash it away under the stairs or in the attic when you don't.

Gift ideas gadgets - Crime Scene Towel

A towel may not qualify as a gadget or one of the top boys toys, unless you view it as a weapon in the sun lounger wars. Ideal for the CSI addicts out there, this crime scene towel will mark out his spot in the sun. Also not bad at drying you off either.

Gift ideas gadgets - Inflatable Body Boards

More great gear in bags, and this time it's an inflatable body board. These boogie boards are very light to carry around, and very durable. So even if the surf is less Maui than he might like, he can still look a bit wow-y! Handles on the front help the novices to get in the right position. Perfect.

Gadgets shopping - Gorilla Pods

If the budding photographer in your life is likely to get up to high jinks in dangerous places, then make sure his camera at least stays stable. The Gorilla Pods will fix to just about anything giving every camera a stable platform to produce great shots. There's one each for compact and SLR cameras.

Gadgets shopping - Portable Cocktail Set

This is for the suave traveller in your life, something to make even Bond green with envy. For martinis anytime, anywhere, this is the ultimate mobile bar. Complete with a shaker, measures, glasses and stirrers, all you need to provide is the correct tipple to fill the hip flask, and you can shake and stir wherever you like.

Gadgets shopping - Tarantula Water Gun

It might have been raining for ever this year, but in case you think he might fancy cooling off, then treat him to the might of the Tarantula water gun. Fully motorised, this gives maximum soakage with minimum effort. Which suggests it might be worth buying two, otherwise it's going to be a bit one sided.

Gadgets shopping - Flying Pterodactyl

Is it a plane? Is it a bird? No, it's a flying pterodactyl. Well, it's different, and it's this kind of thing that guys love. Serves no practical purpose, but will give them hours of fun and conversation in the pub. Although, you could use it for dive-bombing next doors cat next time it pays your garden an unwelcome visit.
