Stylish Carry Ons    Getting Organised    Passing the Time    Remembering Special People & Places

Travel in Style

Oh, how we yearn for the age of stylish travel. The fact that most of us never experienced it is by the by. We've all seen the pictures of David Beckham and Daniel Craig emerging from transatlantic flights looking amazing, knowing that we have emerged looking like we've morphed into Rab C Nesbitt en route.  So, we can't promise these will transform you into Daniel Craig, but they might make the whole experience slightly more enjoyable.,

Stylish Carry Ons and Luggage - from overnight to overland

Molton Brown Explorer - the perfect weekender

If you're going to be whisked away for a weekend away, then show up in style with this gorgeous yet stylishly practical weekender in soft grain leather from Molton Brown. The zip top means you can get to everything easily, fully lined and with comfortable double handles. Lots of practical pockets for passports, tickets and your mobile phone. An essential accessory for the stylish, well-travelled man of today, it's an investment piece that will just go on getting better looking with age. And its vital statistics will pass most airlines cabin baggage dimensions.

Cellini C8 Medium Carry On from ebags

Even men get fed up with lugging bags, and may well prefer to swish through the airport with his case rolling along behind him? He needs Cellini, who were apparently the originators of lightweight luggage. And that could be so, as their bags seem to have everything. The C8 Medium Carry On is small enough to go in the overhead locker, yet has a tardis-like capacity for getting everything in. With separate areas for shoes and toiletries, he should be on his way in no time at all.

Luxury Shirt Luggage from James & Longbourne

If he travels for work, and work involved wearing shirts, then treat him to this luxury shirt luggage from James & Longbourne. This nifty little case will hold up to 7 shirts and 4 ties completely wrinkle free, so he can spend his whole trip looking as smooth and unruffled as 007. And he won't have had to tackle a hotel ironing board in the meantime. You could also treat him to a set of James & Longbourne's fabulous collar stiffeners. We particularly like the set of universal stiffeners, which come in their own travel pouch, just for that finishing touch. Or, if he thinks he'll never need these, then buy him the wallet version, which just pop out when he discovers that he does need them!

Luxurious leather luggage from Pickett

If you wanted to find the most luxurious luggage, then I would head over to Pickett, for the most beautiful leather luggage. The D Bag has it all for me: style, elegance, enough room for plenty of outfits and butter soft leather. Of course it's not cheap, but it should last you for ever and even get better looking with age and fabulous travels. Although I probably wouldn't let Ryan Air near it. It would make a fabulous, special gift for any man, particularly with a couple of tickets tucked inside it to somewhere amazing.

Getting organised - the extras that make it easier

Ducti Passport Protector

Keep your passport protected in style, with this hybrid passport protector and wallet from Ducti. With its super duct tape exterior, this will certainly come out of any travels looking in top condition, it's made for tough going! Guaranteed not to peel or get sticky, it has style, it has practicality and it should last the whole journey. Perfect. Just remember to take your passport out of the cover before you get to passport control, it'll keep the inspectors much happier!

Lifeventure Document Wallet

Maybe you'd prefer everything in one place? Well, this travel wallet from Lifeventure gives you the perfect spot to keep your passport, tickets, important phone numbers etc all together, and well protected. There is a zipped external pocket, coin pocket, key fob and plenty of internal pockets to keep everything organised. It should have you speeding through check ins and passport control to get your holiday underway.

His Packits from Not On the High Street

We love the idea of Packits - fourteen savvy, reusable packing checklists for different occasions from weekends away, hot holidays to skiing, even one for festivals and camping. Much easier to tick it off than think about it each time, and never again get there and realise you've forgotten something really vital. These act as great reminders, and there's a set available for the women too. The lists are laminated so you can use them again and again. No more scrappy lists, or forgotten essentials!

High Vis Luggage Straps from Presents for Men

If you've not gone for the option of getting everything in the overhead locker, then you need your case to stand out at the carousel. And preferably not for being the one that's sprung open to show off your lingerie collection to the world. Go for high vis with these distinctive luggage straps, which come in a wide variety of colours. Which is a good thing, otherwise the bags will still all look the same!

Passing the time on board - or how not to emerge looking like the beast

Elemis Universal Traveller - perfect for jet setting men

You can arrive looking dog rough or completely buff with a little advance prep. Yes, even real men moisturise on board. In these times of luggage restrictions though you need to pare down your grooming products and so give the gift of minis to ensure a well groomed trip. Elemis have great grooming products, whether you're on the ground or in the air. The Universal Traveller has everything you'll need to arrive in great shape, except the zip lock clear bag to transport this onboard in!

Comply NR10 Earphones

It can be tough enough to get to sleep on board without the big guy snoring three rows in front. I always look enviously at those well seasoned travellers who stick on their noise cancelling earphones, slap on an eye mask and off they seem to drift to the land of nod for hours and hours. I'm thinking that these ComplyTM NR10 headphones should do the trick, and at under £50 a very reasonable version. They will provide 48dB of noise reduction, virtually blocking out jet engine noise. Whether they can cope with the guy in 19C or not is another thing.

Travel Backgammon

If you've either seen every film going, or are not on that kind of plane, you'll need something to pass the time onboard, or even at the airport. Add an air of Monte Carlo sophistication with this backgammon set in a tin. I mean, it's got to look more interesting than a game of Pass the Pigs! And you could win some extra holiday spending money before you go. Or lose the lot! Anyway, this is small enough to slip into your hand luggage so, like a good scout, you'll be prepared for when boredom strikes.

Carthusia Aria Di Capri Solid Fragrance

There's no point arriving looking gorgeous if you smell like an old skunk. Travel toothbrush and paste? Check. Breath mints? Check. Fragrance? Yes, even the blokes can come off smelling sweet and solid fragrance is ideal. For a fresh but masculine smell, we love Carthusia's Mediterraneo, for its fresh lemon and green tea notes, like you just woke up in a lemon grove on the Med, and not some packed out 747!

Special people, places and remembering them

Bombus Notebooks - you name the place!

If you're off on a special trip, then you might want to write your own travel journal, to record the things you see and experience, the great places you discover like the best bar, the most amazing adrenalin-pumping surf ever, ...So for memories this special how about a travel journal from Smythson? These are beautifully made but very lightweight, and incredibly beautiful. No less beautiful, but slightly more affordable, we also adore the notebooks from Bombus, which they will cover in maps of the place, country or continent of your choice.

iWallet from Prezzy Box

If I'm travelling without the family, then I'm never without some photos of them. But the iWallet takes this to the next level! This wallet contains all the normal stuff a wallet should but also a slimline viewer that will display an album of your favourite photos. It has an incredible 16MB of storage so it really is like a tiny digital photo frame that can go everywhere you go. Perfect for doting dads or adoring lovers, however far from home they may be!

Little Cream Books for the inside track on the most amazing places

In this age of instant access to info, you might think the travel guidebook is dead. Well, possibly, but we still like the evenings spent thumbing through a book and dreaming of the trip ahead. For something special, that would make a great treat to yourself, or a beautiful gift, we would choose one of the titles from Little Cream Book. Choose from Romance, Goodwill, Cool Destinations or even Golf, for the inside information gathered by people in the know. Not only do they have great insight into some amazing places, they look pretty special too!

Waterproof iPod speakers

Music can bring back memories, or provide the soundtrack to new ones, and the advent of the iPod has made travelling with your own music so much easier. If you want to share the music, then we like these waterproof iPod speakers, which are compact enough for travelling, and robust enough to cope with pretty much most conditions. Before you go, you might want to try downloading some music that's appropriate to where you're off too, or even a travel guide and walking tour.  Although probably best not to try the walking tours with the speakers in tow!
