Being Comfortable Relieving Boredom Eating & Sleeping Well Healthy Resolutions
DEFINITELY THE FLU
We wouldn't wish ill health on anyone, but it can be a fact of life. Whether your loved one is laid up with a bout of German measles, a sprained ankle or just something that's taking them out of circulation for a bit, you might want to spoil them and help them cope with the incapacity.
Being comfortable
Regardless of what they wear in bed when in full health, they might need something for more lounging around, or wandering around between bedroom and other rooms. We love Bonsoir, stylish choices, nice colours and not old fuddy-duddy styles.
There might be times he needs more wrapping up, and you can't go wrong with a classic robe. We particularly like the ones from The White Company, which are soft yet thick towelling, generously cut to a decent length, and something to feel cosy in, even if he feels generally a bit rough.
We tried looking for stylish slippers, but that seems to be an oxymoron really. If he really wants slippers, then M&S still have the widest choice. If he just wants to keep his tootsies warm, then you could treat him to the luxury of some cashmere socks. Soft, warm and somewhat more stylish than tartan slippers.
When you're off colour, you never know whether you're going to feel hot or cold, but you often feel the need to feel cosy. He might enjoy one of these sleeping bag reinventions from I Want One of Those, and at least he can think that he might someday feel well enough again to go yomping over the moors, or just an overnight stay in a tent in Cornwall. Well, it's an adventurous Selk Bag or a nice cashmere blend blanket!

Relieving boredom
Let's face it, there is only so much daytime TV you can watch (even with the advent of Dave). For the time he's off, why not arrange a subscription with loveFILM to keep occupied with all his favourite films, or the ones he wishes he'd seen. Or the ones he's seen a million times and can recite the lines from! You don't have to worry if you like them, you probably won't be there, so indulge his taste for westerns/bad 1950s B movies/sci-fi/whatever!
If he's going to be home for a while, then how about a magazine subscription or two? You can pick stuff he's interested, or maybe a subject that he's always wanted to get more involved in but not had the time before. Magazine Group have probably the widest range of titles on offer, all come at great discounts off the cover price, and you'll often find free gifts on offer too. They've got everything from GQ to National Geographic, The Economist to 442. And of course, you could always add in one for you, too!
Perhaps he'll need somewhere other than the sofa or the bed to crash out on, and something else to relieve the possible boredom. Well, the Pyramat Sound Rocker just might do the trick. It's a state of the art gaming seat that lets him hear and feel the action from video games, music and movies like never before. Of course, it won't help him get better quicker, but it might make him feel better.
Of course, if he's a gamer, then this is when the PS2 or Wii, or whatever his choice is, really comes into it's own. The Wii seems to be engaging a much wider range of ages than other boxes, and the other big win here has been the DSLite, particularly with Dr Kawashima's Brain Training. So, to stop the daytime rot setting in, he can now not only train his brain, but also his eyes. with Sight Training. He could go back in really good shape!

Eating Well, Sleeping Well
Taking care of inside and out could help him feel a whole lot better. In our grandma's day, there were all kind of tonics around to make you feel better, but we don't reckon any were as tasty as Firefly's. You could order him in a case, something like the Sharpen Up or Wake Up, just to give him a bit of a daily pep. Another great alternative is a selection of Belvoir Fruit Cordials, which are squash for grown ups. Hydration is important and these will make plenty of water seem more interesting.
Sometimes when you're off colour, you really just want some real comfort food. And we can't think of anything more comfortable than pie and mash, and we reckon Pie Minister's pies are the most comfy food thing around. With high quality ingredients, and interesting combinations of flavours as well as old favourites, these have to be a winner, and you can get them delivered. Our top choice would be the Heroes collection, which has beef, chicken and even a quite exciting veggie pie option.
We think all things in moderation, so he might be doing healthy eating most of the time, so deserves a few treats along the way. We love the nostalgia boxes from A Quarter Of, and also their new decades boxes. So if he was a child of the 50s, 60s or 70s, they now have a box of sweeties ready to take him on a sweet trip back down memory lane. With everything from Sherbet Fountains to Space Dust, they'll help him relive some happy times!
There'll be a need for him to get his recuperative rest and beauty sleep, so to help him in his slumbers then how about Molton Brown's Seamoss Stress Relieving Hydrosoak. A relaxing soak in the bath, these crystals will help to rebalance body and mind, leaving him feeling calm and relaxed. Molton Brown is popular with men and women alike, with the Black Pepper shower gel being a winner with both, for times when he needs a pep up.

Healthy Resolutions
Once he's on the road to recovery, perhaps he'll be thinking of a new healthy lifestyle? A juice extractor is one way to help get towards those five portions of fruit and veg each day, and sure he'll have fun coming up with some great combinations of flavours that even Sainsbury don't stock! If he needs some inspiration, then buy him a copy of The Juice Master.
Perhaps he'll want to take up a new exercise regime? Well, he can help himself and help the planet. These padded cycling shorts are made for comfort but amazingly they're made from 70% bamboo, which we're told is the material of the future. It's apparently ultra soft and ideal for sport, particularly when blended off with organic cotton.
And maybe being off colour will be the push he needs to give up smoking? You could help him out, perhaps with a copy of Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking. You could get him started with NicAssist, and when he's been stopped away treat him to some good tooth whitening toothpaste to get his gnashers back in shape.
A little R&R might go a long way to speeding along his total recovery. How about an active spa break in Austria? Depending on the season, you can do skiing, hiking, climbing, curling, tennis and swimming. Then the relaxing bit, with treatments in the Shiseido Spa using the benefits of the healing thermal waters of Bad Gastein. A few days here will send you both back feeling completely rejuvenated and raring to go.
So, now he's fully recovered you might feel like whisking him away for a few days, maybe giving his wardrobe a spring clean, and giving him a new grooming routine to keep him looking as good as he feels. Just remember to give him a big hug before you do any of this, just to say "welcome back"!
