DEFINITELY THE FLU

We wouldn't wish ill health on anyone, but it can be a fact of life. Whether your loved one is laid up with a bout of German measles, a sprained ankle or just something that's taking them out of circulation for a bit, you might want to spoil them and help them cope with the incapacity.

Being comfortable

Stunning loungewear from Bonsoir

Regardless of what they wear in bed when in full health, they might need something for more lounging around, or wandering around between bedroom and other rooms. We love Bonsoir, stylish choices, nice colours and not old lady styles. These wide cut trousers and jersey top are perfect, she's not going to frighten the milkman in these, or get too chilly!

Classic Robe from The White Company

There might be times she needs more wrapping up, and you can't go wrong with a classic robe. We particularly like the ones from The White Company, which are soft yet thick towelling, generously cut to a decent length, and something to feel cosy in, even if she feels generally a bit rough.

Cashmere slippers from Charlotte & Co

Slippers can easily conjure up images of grannies in tartan slippers. But if she's going to need to keep her toes warm, then we suggest the luxury of these cashmere slippers from Charlotte & Co. They'll be toasty warm and stylish with it, and no sign of any tartan at all!

Cashmere blankets for making her feel much better

When you're off colour, you never know whether you're going to feel hot or cold, but you often feel the need to feel cosy. Now, this isn't a cheap route, but the ultimate luxury has to be a cashmere blanket. Although she may not want to come back out from under it, if she's feeling really poorly, this just might help her feel a little better!

Relieving boredom

Choose a wide range of films to keep her occupied!

Let's face it, there is only so much daytime TV you can watch (even with the advent of Dave). For the time he's off, why not arrange a subscription with loveFILM to keep her occupied with all her favourite films, or the ones she wishes she'd seen. Or the ones she's seen a million times and can recite the lines from! You don't have to worry if you like them, you probably won't be there, so indulge her taste for chick flicks/musicals/re-runs of 24/whatever!

Easy Living, one of the many titles on offer from Magazine Group

If she's going to be home for a while, then how about a magazine subscription or two? You can pick stuff she's interested, or maybe a subject that she's always wanted to get more involved in but not had the time before. Magazine Group have probably the widest range of titles on offer, all come at great discounts off the cover price, and you'll often find free gifts on offer too. They've got everything from Vogue to Country Living, Easy Living to Time. And of course, you could always add in one for you, too

Chillingham chair and footrest from the Cotswold Co

Perhaps she'll need somewhere other than the the bed to crash out on, as the four walls of the bedroom can get very dull. This chair and footstool will make somewhere very cosy for her to get curled up (with the magazine you ordered for her). The styling means it will work in many different styles of houses, and she'll get to put her feet up and rest in style!

Sight Training for the Nintendo DSLite, one way to keep at least part of him active when he's poorly!

Of course, if she's a gamer, then this is when the PS2 or Wii, or whatever her choice is, really comes into it's own. The Wii seems to be engaging a much wider range of ages than other boxes, and the other big win here has been the DSLite, particularly with Dr Kawashima's Brain Training. So, to stop the daytime rot setting in, she can now not only train his brain, but also her eyes. with Sight Training. She could go back in really good shape!

Eating Well, Sleeping Well

Firefly Tonics - just what the patient needs!

Taking care of inside and out could help her feel a whole lot better. In our grandma's day, there were all kind of tonics around to make you feel better, but we don't reckon any were as tasty as Firefly's. You could order her in a case, something like the Sharpen Up or Wake Up, just to give her a bit of a daily pep. Another great alternative is a selection of Belvoir Fruit Cordials, which are squash for grown ups. Hydration is important and these will make plenty of water seem more interesting.

Pie Minister pies from Food Full Stop

Sometimes when you're off colour, you really just want some real comfort food. And we can't think of anything more comfortable than pie and mash, and we reckon Pie Minister's pies are the most comfy food thing around. With high quality ingredients, and interesting combinations of flavours as well as old favourites, these have to be a winner, and you can get them delivered. Our top choice would be the Heroes collection, which has beef, chicken and even a quite exciting veggie pie option.

70s decade box from A Quarter Of

We think all things in moderation, so she might be doing healthy eating most of the time, so deserves a few treats along the way. We love the nostalgia boxes from A Quarter Of, and also their new decades boxes. So if she was a child of the 50s, 60s or 70s, they now have a box of sweeties ready to take her on a sweet trip back down memory lane. With everything from Sherbet Fountains to Space Dust, they'll help her relive some happy times!

Molton Brown Stress Relieving Soak

There'll be a need for her to get her recuperative rest and beauty sleep, so to help her in her slumbers then how about Molton Brown's Seamoss Stress Relieving Hydrosoak. A relaxing soak in the bath, these crystals will help to rebalance body and mind, leaving her feeling calm and relaxed. Molton Brown is popular with men and women alike, with the Black Pepper shower gel being a winner with both, for times when she needs a pep up.

Healthy Resolutions

Juice Extractor from John Lewis

Once she's on the road to recovery, perhaps she'll be thinking of a new healthy lifestyle? A juice extractor is one way to help get towards those five portions of fruit and veg each day, and sure she'll have fun coming up with some great combinations of flavours that even Sainsbury don't stock! If she needs some inspiration, then buy him a copy of The Juice Master.

Sweaty Betty for perfect gear for new exercise regimes

Perhaps she'll want to take up a new exercise regime? Well, the first step might be getting the right gear, and getting gear that looks great. We love Sweaty Betty for stylish gear that has substance as well as style, it holds up well to any sort of exercise from an active session in the gym to the more gentle toning of yoga and pilates.

Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking

And maybe being off colour will be the push she needs to give up smoking? You could help her out, perhaps with a copy of Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking. You could get her started with NicAssist, and when she's been stopped away treat her to some good tooth whitening toothpaste to get her gnashers back in shape.

R&R at Bad Gastein in Austria with Why Don't You

A little R&R might go a long way to speeding along her total recovery. How about an active spa break in Austria? Depending on the season, you can do skiing, hiking, climbing, curling, tennis and swimming. Then the relaxing bit, with treatments in the Shiseido Spa using the benefits of the healing thermal waters of Bad Gastein. A few days here will send you both back feeling completely rejuvenated and raring to go.

So, now she's fully recovered you might feel like whisking her away for a few days, maybe giving her wardrobe a spring clean, and help her keep looking as good as she's now feeling. Just remember to give her a big hug before you do any of this, just to say "welcome back"!
