The Basics    Making Driving Easier    Making Driving Fun

Congratulations - You've Passed Your Driving Test!

At last, they are mobile! Whether they pass first time, or twenty first time, then you should mark the moment! Obviously you would buy them the car of their dreams if you could, but perhaps try these for starters!

The Basics

Sunshine Sunset Bouquet for Macmillan Cancer Support

Flowers work well for every kind of occasion, and we love sunflowers for being cheerful and jolly, and feeling really celebratory! This bouquet is called Sunrise Sunset and is from John Lewis, and we think it fits the bill perfectly! The purchase of the bouquet not only helps your loved one celebrate, but 15% of the purchase price goes to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Congratulations!

Don't forget the card! We love the ranges from Greetings by Photobox, as you can completely personalise them. So have a look at the range, as it's quite extensive and you're bound to find something that suits. We love these balloons, really jolly and happy.

Bubbly, always with bubbles, not necessarily with alcohol

Champagne makes every occasion special, and this one should be no different! Just remind them not to go out and practice their driving afterwards. Oddbins have a great selection at every price range, or if you want to send something without the alcohol but with the bubbles, check out the Brighton Bubbly at The Alcohol Free Shop.

Tender Heart Keyring from Links of London

Now they can have the keys to the car, make sure they have a decent keyring to keep them on. To make it special, then we love this sterling silver Tender Heart keyring from Links of London. Beautiful, stylish, and heavyweight so she'll know she's got this in her handbag. John Lewis also do a silver plate heart keyring if she is likely to lose it, and you don't want to spend a fortune on it each time!

Making Driving Easier

Navman Sat Navs

We would not be without sat nav in the car (saves so many arguments) and the Navman is one of the best in our book. You can spend anything from just over £100 to over £400, depending on how many bells and whistles you want to have. This is the S50, one of the more basic models, but does what you need it to i.e. get you from A to B!

Handy Road Atlas from Maps International

Sometimes, only a map will do, though, and Maps International have every map your loved one could ever need. So whether they want to look for some places for great days out close to home, or take part in the next London to Dakar rally, then these people have everything you could possibly need on the map front.

Lock de-icer

Now, global warming might make this defunct, but come winter at the moment they might be very glad of a lock de-icer! No more picking and chipping ice from the lock, just zap and go! Not the most exciting present, but come a very cold and frosty morning they will thank you most heartily for it!

Spotlight - the perfect car light

Cars are generally more reliable these days, but you can guarantee it will go wrong on a wet dark night! In which case, the Spotlight Torch will be very welcome. It's very small, but very powerful, and charges from the cigarette lighter socket. Leave it in there all the time and it's ready to go in their hour of need!

Making Driving Fun, and Driving for Fun

iTrip, your car, your music

Because it's all about them, their car, their music and the open road! An iTrip is an ideal companion for any length of journey, making sure you never get stuck with some DJ's awful choice of music, or inane banter. There are versions for both iPods and all other makes of MP3 players, so they can have music wherever they go! You could load up a special playlist onto their iPod, or buy one of the many "driving" themed albums available. Maybe nothing too fast and racy for their first few weeks!

Picnic bag for on the go meals

Make sure they are ready for a picnic at a moments notice with this great picnic set in a bag. An upmarket set for those days on the open road, it has enough things for 4 people, or just 2 of you if you are planning more of a banquet. It even has a special bag for all the dirty plates!

Rug in a Bag

And you really can't enjoy a good picnic, or admire a sunset, if your bottom is cold, damp and heading for full on sogginess. So, make sure they have one of these rugs in a bag tucked in the boot of the car, and they are ready for anything. The waterproof backing makes sure the damp stays on the ground, and you can always turn it over and hold it over your heads if it rains!

QuickPitch Tent for quick camping

If you want to take the level of adventure to the next level, then how about a QuickPitch tent for them to keep in the boot? Whether you pitch up at festivals or just the middle of nowhere, the QuickPitch tent does what it says on the tin. Unpack it, watch it pop itself into shape, then peg it down. In the words of Gordon Ramsay, done!
